Howdy from Technical Support

Stata’s Technical Support staff is ready and glad to assist you with any technical issues you encounter in Stata. In our experience, users may spend hours trying to figure out problems that can be quickly solved with a particular option, a new command, or even an old command that they are not aware of.

Our team consists of statisticians, economists, engineers, mathematicians, and IT staff who can help you with questions about installation, data management, basic statistics, panel data, multilevel modeling, Bayesian analysis, survival analysis, and much more. I normally define our work at Stata as an academic job in the private sector that allows us to keep studying and interacting with students, professors, and professionals in different disciplines, and we enjoy the day-to-day contact that our users share with us. We hear from users worldwide who are working on technical reports, class assignments, dissertations, papers for a journal article, and case studies for job interviews. Some users even write to us to provide feedback and suggestions for new features they would like to see in Stata.

We are always willing to help our users to overcome problems they face when using Stata for their empirical research or data analysis. In general, we are not familiar with the particular characteristics of your dataset or the theoretical framework for your project, but we will work with you to solve specific issues related to Stata implementation. One point to remember when contacting us would be that the better you describe the problem, the better we can understand it and reproduce it on our computers to properly assist you.

All registered users of the current release of Stata (Stata 19) are eligible for free technical support. To use this service, all you need to do is register your Stata license online and send us an email. You can learn more about this process here. We normally respond within a couple of hours, so you may send your question and work on additional tasks (or sit back and relax) while waiting for our response.

We look forward to hearing from you.
