FAQs

Who is eligible for a free K–12 course license?

Our K–12 course licenses are for teachers teaching K–12 classes only. Teachers must be actively teaching a K–12 class using Stata at an accredited school or academic institution, and the course must issue credit toward a diploma. Teachers should register their class with us and provide proof they are actively teaching Stata.

How may I use the course license?

The license is appropriate for teaching and K–12 coursework. The license is not appropriate for faculty/staff research or commercial or government purposes, including commercial or government training programs.

What license will I receive?

Teachers will receive a K–12 course license, which is a Stata/BE classroom license with one key for multiple activations. The license will be large enough to cover the number of students in the course and will be valid for one year.

When will I receive the license?

Upon registration and approval of your request, you will receive the K–12 course license either 5–7 business days before the course begins as indicated by the form course start date, or you will receive the license within 1–2 business days of approval, whichever comes first. You will receive the license activation key via email along with instructions to download the software from stata.com.

Additional terms and conditions

The Stata K–12 course license provided free of charge from StataCorp is appropriate for use for K–12 student coursework or for use by faculty for teaching. It is not appropriate for faculty/staff research, for nonacademic or noninstructional use, or for commercial or government purposes, including commercial or government training programs. Other restricted use may include, but is not limited to, administrative use, consulting, commercial research, institutional research, or other noneducational use.

By requesting and using the K–12 course license, you agree that it will be used only for K–12 coursework as described above. You also agree that any license issued will be provided only to students enrolled in the class as specified and not to any other students, faculty, staff, or other personnel.
