Stata complains that my “license is not applicable to this
version”. What does that mean?

You have installed the SE version of Stata but your license is only valid for
Intercooled or Small Stata, or you have installed the MP version but your
license is only valid for Stata/SE, Intercooled Stata, or Small Stata.
Check your license and confirm which version of Stata
you are authorized to use.
Then redo the installation.
