No there is no such Q&A type approach to help in Stata, although Stata's help (text and otherwise) is extensive. You will probably get an equally good if not better advice from this list if your friend reads the FAQ before posting. There is no one nasty here. So read and post.

Basically, what this statistics coach does is that it asks a bunch of questions regarding the structure of your data, what kind of tests you'd like to perform on your data, etc. and then it suggests what types of analyses you can do in SPSS.
