Thank you Nick and Ronan,
The csv file still contained all the data.
After reading some of the references you sent me, I entered the csv. data by copying it from excel and pasting directly in the stata data editor and it worked. It had not worked using insheet command.
Thanks again,
Sergio

This is what I did:
I imported a CSV file into STATA. Then I typed "clear" in the command
box (I just wanted to try it out).

Memo: you are banned from the flight deck of any aircraft I am on.

Then STATA cleared all the variables
of my imported CSV file.
Then, I closed STATA.

But your csv file continued to exist wherever you had saved it.
Furthermore, all your commands were available in the review window,
so you could simply have re-run your session up to the point you
pressed the big red knob to see what it did.

Then I created a new
copy of my CSV file (from an original excel file).

I don't see why. What had happened to the original one?

Then tried to
import again the CSV file and, although STATA imported it, it only read
the labels of the file. It looks like it did not recognized the numbers
of the file.

Try opening the csv file in Excel to verify that it contains the data
you expect.
