when you use collapse and examine the mean values they turn to be different from the original set when using the by option. So for example if you have a time series and it is a monthly data so you will go: summ y, by (time) when you collapse your data and use the mean option your result won't be the same. Is this correct? * * For searches and help try: * http://www.stata.com/help.cgi?search * http://www.stata.com/support/statalist/faq * http://www.ats.ucla.edu/stat/stata/
