It's an OS X issue... it's a bug in the databrowser control which one of the
Apple developers acknowledged in one of their developer mailing lists months
ago.

We just respond to the dialog's query about whether a file is supposed to be
active or inactive and it's up to the control to display it properly.  As
you've noticed, you can click on the files even though they sort of show up
disabled.
