Hello Margaret,I can't comment on the resources you cited, but I want to add that another option is in the mahapick module. It has several programs for creating a distance measure, and for choosing matches based on such a score.

HelloI would value advice on whether the material on performing propensity score matching using Stata at the linkhttp://www.biostat.jhsph.edu/~estuart/propensityscoresoftware.htmlis up-to-date. I currently have IC Stata Version 13.0 and realise that some of the content at the above site may be dated. Also, having read the content at http://arxiv.org/abs/1201.6385 , I have some reservations about the loopholes that need to be encountered with SPSS in order to try and get closest to the real thing in performing propensity score matching. Therefore, given the provision of more sophisticated modules, I am inclined to think that Stata may be more fit for purpose. I would valueadvice in this area too, however.More generally, I would welcome advice on suitable resources for self-directed learning from scratch in the use of Stata for propensity score matching. Many thanks in advance Best wishes Margaret ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dr Margaret MacDougall Medical Statistician and Researcher in Education Centre for Population Health Sciences College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine Teviot Place Edinburgh EH8 9AG Tel: +44 (0) 131 650 3211 Fax: +44 (0) 131 650 6909 E-mail: medstats.help@ed.ac.uk http://www.chs.med.ed.ac.uk/cphs/people/staffProfile.php?profile=mmacdoug The University of Edinburgh is a charitable body, registered in Scotland, with registration number SC005336.
