-nearmrg- is from SSC. The Statalist FAQ makes it clear that you should explain where user-written programs you use come from. I guess that you are 1. using an operating system called Windows 2. being bitten because a path to your temporary file contains spaces. You could . set trace on And see where -nearmrg- crashes. I guess further that you may need to clone -nearmrg- and change references to `work' to references to "`work'", i.e. add extra double quotes. The first author of -nearmrg- is Michael Blasnik. He hasn't been evident on Statalist for a while and may have dropped off, so if none of this works you should contact him. Nick n.j.cox@durham.ac.uk Lucchino, Paolo I'm having some problems getting the command nearmrg to work. I get this error message: invalid 'Settings' r(198); Would seem like there is some syntax error in the coding? Grateful for any advice you may have. I'm pasting some example datesets and the commands I use. * * For searches and help try: * http://www.stata.com/help.cgi?search * http://www.stata.com/support/statalist/faq * http://www.ats.ucla.edu/stat/stata/
