I did not see a "personal" folder. The only folder under c:\ado is "plus". Should I establish a "personal" folder? I also tried that and copy the file cluster2.ado to the folder, but the error says "file C:/ado/personal could not be opened".

Well, I right-clicked the link and saved the file to my "personal" folder along Stata's adopath.
Note you can check whether Stata can see the program via -which cluster2-...

It looks like I did not download the file correctly.... Could you tell me exactly how you "downloaded" the file and where you saved it? Thanks.

So the link for others to download the user-written cluster2.ado would be
http://www.kellogg.northwestern.edu/faculty/petersen/htm/papers/se/cluster2.
ado. I can run made up examples without problems, such as the admittedly
nonsensical

***
sysuse auto, clear
cluster2 trunk weight length , fcluster(rep78) tcluster(foreign )
***

So the problem is probably on your end. -set trace on- and see where Stata
gets stuck.

I am trying to apply the cluster as in Mitchell A. Petersen's homepage
http://www.kellogg.northwestern.edu/faculty/petersen/htm/papers/se/se_progra
mming.htm
<http://www.kellogg.northwestern.edu/faculty/petersen/htm/papers/se/se_progr
amming.htm> But received the error saying:

unrecognized command: From
(error occurred while loading cluster2.ado)

What I did was saving the cluster2.ado file in my folder where other .ado
files are stored, restarting Stata and then running the program. It seems
that Stata was able to find the cluster2.ado file, but had difficulty
implementing the program. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you!
