Just out of curiosity, having never uninstalled Stata for any reason, which
"issue" required you to uninstall "mulitple times"?

Thank you, Martin, for the link. It helped me solving the problem. If
anyone has a similar issue, here is what I did:
I checked the registry and found that the Stata file associations were
indeed incorrect (presumably because I had previously installed and
unistalled Stata multiple times to fix another issue). So, I
uninstalled Stata again. Then, I used CCleaner
(http://www.ccleaner.com/) to clean up the registry (the default
uninstaller does not remove the registry entries when uninstalling
Stata!). After rebooting, I updated Stata. AFTER the update,
double-clicking worked again.
Best

Betreff: st: double-click on dta file does not work
Sorry for the potential repost. Have sent the email accidentally in html.
Hi all,
I have Stata 10 installed on my Vista machine. When i click on a .dta
file, Stata does not open the file. Instead, Stata gives the following
error message:
"unrecognized command: "C:\Users\ invalid command name
(I can open .dta file without any problems from within Stata through
the "open file" dialog).
I have had no such problems on my previous computer, which was an XP
machine, so I guess that this is a Vista issue.
Does anyone have a solution?
I am really grateful for any help.
Best,
R.
