thank you. I did use the -showknots- option. In the graph I got the vertical lines in the _positions_ of the knots but not their values in the x axis.

You can specify the -showknots- option. Quoting from the
helpfile of -rcspline:
"-showknots- specifies that the positions of the knots be
shown on the graph by vertical lines."
