Paul,

If you have rates and their standard errors, you can just compute the
confidence intervals applying the most appropriate method (i.e. those that
avoid negative CIs), and run metan to plot the data using:

metan rate loweCI upperCI

note that the CIs are unlikely to be symmetrical. I believe you can
transform the data (e.g. ln scale) and get more symmetrical plots as long
as you don�t have lower limits equal to zero.
