.
This sounds like an -append- problem to me.

append id using ESSE

might do what you want.

Hi to all,

I'm working with panel data but the data base is split in two files. In one file I have x variables from 1994 to 2002. In the second file I have the same x variables form 2003 to 2005 and y variables from 1994 to 2005.

After I merge the files, the x variables are not added into the other file. I have only missing values form 1994 to 2002 and values form 2003 to 2005. The y variables are well merged. I have tried to merge the files in both sense but the problem still remains.

The command I used is :

merge id using ESSE

Does anyone knows how can I solve this problem?.
