Any idea why Stata/SE 10 is extremely slow reading program code? Version 10.0 needs about 35-40 seconds to read 107 lines of code whereas Version 9.2 needs only about 1 second.
As usual, when Statalist speaks, Statacorp takes action. From the -help whatsnew- for the March 3 executable update:

"Performance of the Review window has been enhanced so that there is less overhead between executing multiple commands that are all pasted into the Command window at once."

Dirk's code, which was taking me 18 seconds to run, now runs in about 3-4 seconds. Which is still a little slower than Stata 9.2, but is nonetheless a big improvement.
