That Smultron preference is meant to point to an executable program, not to a directory. /bin/sh is a program (one flavor of the Unix shell). /applications/stata/stata-se is, likewise, a Unix program (the console version of Stata/SE 9). I believe you need the < redirection on the line as well to get Smultron to feed what you have highlighted into Stata.
