Good bit of detective work.  Since -translate- is a builtin command,
one can't poke around under the hood to see how the page definitions
are actually implemented.  If you have confirmed the improper
translation to your satisfaction then perhaps you should officially
alert Stata.  They are very good at responding to bugs (providing one
has done a thorough job of documenting them).
