Tables require more work (at least with MS Word), but apparently
can be done fairly easily if you use Tex.
You might want to take a look at outtable (ssc desc outtable) in this regard. It presumes that what you want in a table you already have in a matrix, but that is a common setup for organizing materials. Also note that estout can produce LaTeX tables of descriptive statistics with a little trick documented in the help file.
