For what it's worth, putting all the files into a zip file archive
and sending that using steps (a) and (b) above appears to avoid the problems
Changing the "///" in the original files to use /* and */ over lines
appears to solve the problem too but I have not been able to verify
that 100% yet

The zip file approach may be your best bet. However, you might also
want to consider setting up your own user site; from within Stata, type
help usersite
It is a little more work, but it minimizes the risk that your
programs will somehow get zapped as they go from you to other
users. It would also be handy if several people need to access the programs.
