Hello,

Has anyone gotten this error message trying to open the GUI? I run Stata
8.2 on XP Pro with SP2 installed. Our tech guy says it's not my computer,
but something with Stata. I tried using various parameters for set mem,
but nothing seems to work. It won't even open when I have no data sets
open.

Can anyone suggest a solution?
To clarify, was Stata working fine until you installed SP2? If so, you might try a system restore to before you installed SP2, and see if Stata works ok then. Or, I think you can just uninstall SP2, can't you?. Our local computing people don't want us installing SP2 until they have had a chance to check it out more. It wouldn't stun me if Microsoft did not do extensive testing of Stata and SP2.
