At present a console version of Stata 8 for Mac OS X is not available. As an alternative, you can run Stata in a terminal window in batch mode (see the FAQ at http://www.stata.com/support/faqs/mac/advanced8.html#batch). This provides full access to the program, but does not permit you to use it interactively.

2. Is there any way to run Stata with graphical interface remotely,
such as over X11 or another Mac program that lets you use a desktop
remotely?

Perhaps someone at StataCorp might want to comment further here, but my understanding is that a console version of Stata for Mac OS X is under consideration, as is an X-Windows version.
