Is there a way in which I can drop variables that have only missing
observations?
If you are using Stat/Transfer to move your data into Stata, you can drop constants and totally missing variables by simply checking the option "Drop Constants" and then pressing the "Optimize" button on the "Variables" tab.

This is extremely useful when transferring a single year of a multi-year survey.

Best,

Steve
