$man start 

reveals the man pages for initctl (init daemon control tool). Among
other things it mentions the command

start  JOB [KEY=VALUE]...
  Requests  that  a new instance of the named JOB be started, out‐
  putting the status of the job to standard output when  the  com‐
  mand completes.
