What happened, and how can I get the toadys data-file.?

It is never good practice to work 'live on air' on your data file.

Keep an original datafile, and accumulate commands in a do-file which build the working datafile - generating new variables, dropping cases etc.

That way, when things go wrong, you can use the do-file to rebuild your working data file.

One important reason for doing this is because you need to leave an audit trail showing how you created your working datafile. It also is important because you can review the code in the do-file to make sure that you did exactly what you thought you did.
