Dear Statalist.
Many thanks to Kit Baum who recently (2013-10-03) made the -use13save12-
package available for download from SSC. (In Stata, use the -ssc- command to
do this directly, or go somewhat more indirectly through usage of
the -findit- command.)

Brief abstract:
use13save12 - is a program that helps out with opening Stata 13 files from
within Stata 10-12 and then saving them in Stata 8-12 format, using
the -use13- (SSC; Radyakin, 2013), -save- and -saveold- commands, where the
latter format is depending on the version run and the options used. The
command may in one go, through a single call, be applied to a quite
generally defined set of Stata datasets within a defined folder and, if
selected, also with respect to all matched corresponding subfolders of that
main top-level folder. Moreover, the input (Stata 13) and output (Stata
8-12) datasets may be asked to be put into specified - that will be created
if needed, i.e. if they do not already exist - subfolders. All options are
optional (but not all at the same time, see the section 'What
option-combinations will not work?' in the corresponding Stata help-file).
