I mean syntax that would regenerate the graph I just created and then
edited, I guess. Matlab does this very well.

I'll have to give it a try. I keep finding that Stata does have
features I want, I just don't always know where they are or what their
full power is. I'm suspecting that's true for a lot of us, even if
we've used the software for a while.
