Erik,

what exactly makes you think -recode- does not allow negative values?
That is, "[s]ay exactly what you typed and exactly what Stata typed
(or did) in response. N.B. exactly! If you can, reproduce the error
with one of Stata's provided datasets or a simple concocted dataset
that you include in your posting. "

Dear Statalist.
I am trying to recode positive values on a specific variable into
particular negative values.
e.g:
recode year (1990 = -156) (1991= -144)
and so on.
However, recode does not allow a negative value it seems.
Any input on this problem would be very appreciated.
Regards,
Erik.
