Note that Stata updates are free. If you are using Stata 12, you can (and should) update to Stata 12.1. You can do so typing . update all -xls2dta- is indeed not (much) more than a (nested) foreach loop, and will be of little help if you are using Stata 11.2 or lower. Unfortunatly I have no answer to the original question. Best Daniel -- xls2dta program need Stata 12.1.
