Sounds like a user-written command that you need to reinstall.

dear statalist-users,

i've used the map_id command in stata 10 to write values of variable X (of specific observations) to a new variable Y into other observations (i.e. if observations are individuals, to write the child's age into the line representing the mother)

in stata 12, this command is apparently not available anymore. do you know about another command capable of doing such mappings?

best,
Florian
