Dear Statalisters,

We are trying to automate the downloading of Google Analytics data into Stata. We use Windows and Stata 12.1.

As some of you may know, there are some nice utilities to download GA data into Excel (see http://www.google.com/analytics/apps/results?category=Reporting%20Tools). The one utility that we use can be automated through a batch file (a ".bat" Windows file). So one option would simply be to run a .bat file from Stata, then import the resulting data from Excel, which is easy with Stata 12. What I don' know is how to run a Windows .bat batch file from within a do-file? Is that possible?

Also, I would also be curious about any other approach to automating GA data transfers within Stata. For example, how difficult do you think it would be to develop a special Stata utility based on GA Core Reporting API (see http://code.google.com/intl/fr/apis/analytics/docs/gdata/home.html).

Thanks in advance for any suggestions,
Charles
