Subject | st: Stata 12 update available; update now |
Date | Fri, 05 Aug 2011 15:42:04 -0500 |
We have found a serious bug in Stata 12. An update is available and we recommend everyone update. If you don't know how, just type -update- at the Stata prompt. The update fixes a memory mangement bug. The bug was unlikely to occur. If it occured, it usually caused a crash. It could, however, cause data to be corrupted. We had only four reports (all involved crashes) and, prior to that, we had never observed a single instance of the bug in extensive testing over a period of one year. If your dataset was below 32 MB on 64-bit computers, or 16 MB on 32-bit computers, the bug could not occur.
