Eric, maybe something strange happens to my Mac or even Stata, I'm
using 11 IC under english language system, so we've the same
contextual system structure. When I -insheet- a file with some strange
chars it works properly. The problem arises when I try to type or
paste in a given cell those non-english characters.

What happens when you -insheet- a file with those characters into Stata ?
