As luck would have it, I had a different sort of program that absolutely would not run under my new Win7 64 bit machine. This was a bit distressing because I discovered this yesterday and wanted to use it in class today. Luckily, I was able to get it to run in XP mode with Virtual PC. If you have Win7 you may already have the necessary software, but if not you can download it from

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx

I think what you would have to do is install Stata and the plugin in your virtual xp machine. I don't know that it will work, but it doesn't take that long to install xp mode and it might come in handy for some other purpose. I've brought a couple of old programs back to life this way.

Then again, it may just be easier to find a 32 bit machine that has Stata and run it on that.

The C plugin does not work with 64-bit Windows. See the notes at the
end of the help file.
