Subject   st: how to determine the sample size and assess the validity of a poll

I have a feeling this is a more general question than a STATA specific
question, however I guess STATA may be able to do it so I am posting
it here.

We are conducting a poll trying to figure out which one of the four
styles of letters conveying essentially the same thing is most
favored. Each person being surveyed will be given all four styles of
letters, and each person will be picking their own order of viewing
these letters. The winner will be the one receiving the most votes in
the end of the poll.

I'd like to ask experts here 1) How am I going to decide a sample
size; 2) how to decide and/or calculate the margin of error; 3) in
what aspects to assess the validity of a poll

Thank you!
