This is an interesting idea but not practical. 

-findit- includes anything it finds on the web and it would be highly problematic to get download statistics for everything and invidious to cite download statistics only for certain packages. 

It's already problematic enough that much good work is overlooked.

It might be nice if -findit- could include download 
statistics.  Popularity doesn't necessarily mean quality, but seeing 
two seemingly similar programs it could be useful to know that one 
has been downloaded 100,000 times while the other has only been 
downloaded 100 times.
