Hello list, The new command netplot is now available from ssc. It produces a graphical representation of social network data stored as an edgelist or arclist in var1 and var2. A short introduction: Visualization of networks is a popular part of network analysis. Specialized software packages like Pajek offer great tools for network visualization, but if you are working with Stata, having to export your data to Pajek for every simple picture is a pain. Netplot is a first step towards making network visualization available within Stata. Assuming that you have data stored as edges or arcs, the program lets you draw plots of your network, using multi-dimensional scaling to determine the placement of the nodes. Alternatively, you can have your nodes arranged on a circle. The use of labels to identify nodes in the graph is also supported. More info: ssc desc netplot To install: ssc install netplot To see only the help file: ssc type netplot.sthlp Also see http://www.rensecorten.dds.nl/index.php/2010/04/drawing-social-networks- in-stata-with-netplot/ for some examples. Thanks to Kit Baum for making the files available!
