while I cannot find the platform switch, either...

I believe StataCorp used to permit you to switch platforms for a fee
(e.g., http://www.stata.com/statalist/archive/2005-04/msg00135.html)
-- a fee which was less than purchasing a brand new license. I don't
know whether they still offer that or not.
