-ssc install stcompet- returns this message:

"server refused to send file

(no action taken)"

Stata 10.1 OS X 10.4.11

Dear Stata Users,

some days ago Hugh Robinson reported in the Statalist a problem occurring when -stcompet-, a macro computing the cumulative incidence, is used.

Thanks to his collaboration, the following check revealed that - stcompet- cannot handle properly the survival data when the enter option in previous -stset- statement has been specified as -enter (varname==numlist)-. Note that the macro produces correct estimates if -enter- is specified as -enter(time exp)-.

Thanks to Kit Baum the new version -stcompet- makes this further check and issues an error message without producing in this case a wrong cumulative incidence estimate.

In this circumstance -stcompet- has been updated to version 10 removing the dependence from two Stata user's commands. Therefore, not having Stata version 10, -stcompet- should not be updated.

Bets wishes.

Enzo
