st: Mata run-time error

I am a relatively new user of Stata. I have the 10.0 version. I am
working on a DHS data set. Every time I use the mean command for any
variable or the svy syntax I get a message saying mata run-time error.
 I tried the set mata 1000 command but it did not work.
What can I do?
