Thank you for the replies to my question. I wanted to know how I can
access the range of values covered by a value label. Some list members
thought I had asked about the range of values in a variable; sorry for
the confusion.

-labelsof- from SSC does what I need.

. sysuse auto
. labelsof foreign
. di r(values)
0 1
