As a follow-up to my previous message and the answer from Brian Poi from Stata Corp I sent him the dataset and code. I should add that I first emailed statalist after contacting Stata Technical Support and confirming that the specification was impossible to fit with Small Stata.
The email by Keith shows that there are other restrictions in Small Stata that many of us are not even aware of. I guess it would be nice if we had an option to emulate Small Stata using our regular version of Stata so that we could test our programs and datasets before sharing them with students. It would also be nice to share information about textbooks that have examples that are "safe" for teaching with Small Stata. I appreciate any tips on a "safe textbook" for economic forecasting.

thanks

Paulo
