First announcement and call for presentations

Audience: Stata users of all levels of experience and all disciplines

This is the first announcement and call for abstracts for the 2nd Nordic
and Baltic Stata User Group meeting.

The meeting is jointly organized by Metrika Consulting (www.metrika.se),
the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Karolinska
Institutet (www.meb.ki.se), and the Department of Nutritional
Epidemiology, National Institute of Environmental Medicine, Karolinska
Institutet (http://ki.se/IMM).

Metrika is the certified exclusive distributor of Stata in the Nordic
and Baltic regions. For further information, contact them at
[email protected]

The meeting is open to all interested. Personnel from StataCorp will
attend, and there will be the usual `wishes and grumbles' session at
which you may air your thoughts to Stata developers.

There will also be an optional dinner in a Stockholm restaurant on
Friday evening (at additional cost).

Registration and deadlines:  To register for the meeting, please send an
e-mail to [email protected] containing your name, affiliation, and
contact details.
Please contact us before August 31, 2007, and preferably much sooner!
Please also indicate if you would like to make a presentation, which
could be

(1) a 20 min talk (followed by 10 min discussion),
(2) a 10 min talk (5 min discussion), or
(3) some other presentation.

Abstracts should be sent by email no later than 19 August 2007 to Peter
Hedström <[email protected]>. Presentations could focus
on a topic of interest, including but not limited to

•	Using Stata for modeling and analysis
•	User-written Stata programs
•	Using Stata to import and manage data
•	Using Stata for graphics
•	Teaching Stata
•	Teaching statistics with Stata
•	Surveys or critiques of Stata facilities in specific fields
•	Software comparisons

No level of sophistication is assumed for presenters or attendees.
We look forward to hearing from you with presentation offers. Please get
in touch with us please if you would like to discuss the suitability of
a potential contribution. We hope you will consider joining the
meetings, as a presenter or an attendee.

Satellite meetings:

On Thursday 6 September 2007, there will be two satellite meetings:

1) "Methods for studying cancer patient survival with application in
    Stata"
    Course leader: Paul Dickman.

2) "Using Stata for agent-based modelling"
    Course leader: Peter Hedström.

Further details of these satellite meetings (including how to register)
will be provided shortly. These meetings may be canceled if not
sufficient numbers sign up.
