The Excel step has an important disadvantage: it will lose either the  
labels associated with numeric values or the numeric values  
associated with labels.

This arises because Excel cannot handle labelled values, so Stat has  
to write one or the other.

But it can, as of the last update, calculate the standard deviation  
correctly. Imagine.
