Not very useful, except possibly in religious debates, to opine, without evidence, that "this is surely not true."

Since beamer makes use of pdflatex, a black box that takes .tex and outputs .pdf, this is surely not true. Even Windows users -- who do not enjoy the native ability to create PDFs of every kind of object with one click -- can make PDFs with WinEDT by clicking on the appropriate icon.
