1. You are reminded as ever that you are asked
to send only plain text messages to Statalist.
This is a long-standing request in the FAQ
and one explained in convincing detail
in documents linked to the FAQ at

2. This creates a small problem for those
members whose mail programs are set up
for other defaults, as they are asked to remember
to choose plain text format when sending to Statalist.
It creates an even larger problem for those whose mailers only
allow HTML. In particular I am given to understand
that a product called Windows Live Mail (beta)
has no plain text option. It follows ineluctably
that this program should not be used to send
to Statalist, so those wishing to post are asked
to use something else instead.
