Hi All,
I'm currently in the process of updating my install, and have noticed
some strange behaviour.
I'm using Stata9.1-SE under Linux, and the ado-files have updated
fine, but I'm updating the executable...
Stata executable
folder: /usr/local/stata9/
name of file: stata-se
currently installed: 20 Jan 2006
latest available: 14 Apr 2006
(info from -update query-).
It sit there downloading at ~14kb/s and stata is maxing out the CPU
(as shown by top, output ommited).
This strikes me as strange as the net connection here is 24Mb/s
(although admittedly the bottleneck could be at another point between
here and the Stata site), but even more bizarre is the CPU usage. Why
is Stata using CPU when its downloading a file?
Eventually everything downloads and after and I can -update swap-, but
it caught my eye and I was curious if anyone else had experienced this
behaviour.
Regards
Neil
