It means that on that line of the file there are fewer comma-delimited fields than on all of the earlier lines of the file -- probably some flaw in the routine generating the original data.

I wasn't under the impression there was a minimum number of vars
necessary to insheet.

What is causing this, or more pragmatically, how can I get around it?
