I am trying to find out what governs the font size used in Stata 8 dialogs,
especially under Windows 2000 (under which I work). I realise that the
choice of a sensible font size depends on the size of the dialog. According
to -[P] dialogs-, dimensions in dialogs are measured in pixels, and they do
not seem to give a conversion factor between pixels and other measurements
(eg cm or inches), suggesting that the conversion factor may not be constant.
The reason for my query is that I plan to give a demo of a Stata dialog at
the 11th UK Stata User Meeting in May, and I would like the dialog to be
legible to people with poor eyesight at the back of the hall. With the
Graph window, the font is set by -graph preferences-, and the font size
depends on the window size, which I can set to be large. With the other
Stata 8 windows, I can alter the font by right-clicking and selecting
"Font". However, right-clicking on dialogs does not seem to work. I am
wondering whether Stata dialogs under Windows take orders directly from
Windows. Is this the case? And if so, what can we do about it?
Best wishes (and thanks in advance)
Roger
