You need to tuck the note in as a sub-option of -by()-.

I am producing boxplot with a command such as

gr box, by(group,total).... axis labels etc

STATA places a "by group" text in lower left corner.
I wish to remove this text. I have tried note() and note("") as options with no effect. I cannot find the answer in the graph manual.
