1. Make sure you have updated Stata 8 as well. Because of a bug in the initial release of Stata 8, Stata has previously recommended that, for the first update, you give the commands

update executable
(Might need -update swap- next, I don't remember; follow the directions)
update ado

rather than -update all- (which should work ok with subsequent updates).

2. Try again later. Sometimes the Internet is a little flaky and things that don't work now will work in an hour.

By the way, I like Stataquest too. I understand that there is far less need for it now that Stata 8 is available, but it still has some nice unique features I like. I wish it was still being updated to take advantage of new features that are available in Stata 8.
